Police Officers don't get to "work remote" from home when the world shuts down. Their jobs, in many respects, intensifies. As businesses shut down, schools are on break, hospitals are overwhelmed, and families are staying home, there is the possibility for the communities to be even more "on edge." But we as citizens are needed now more than ever.
Police Officers need to hear from us -- not in person, but from afar is just fine -- that we are praying for them, we appreciate them and where we can, let's help carry their load.
Would you join us in spreading the word? Together let's THANK MICHIGAN OFFICERS! They do amazing work and their services go above and beyond the call of duty. They are needed and valued. They need to know today, like every day, so many citizens have their backs!
Let us know you are with us and check out the ideas below!
5 SIMPLE WAYS TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT
BE PUBLIC IN YOUR PRAISE: - SOCIAL MEDIA POST: Post a nice statement on your social media account and tag your local Police Stations or record a video with your kids, post it to your social media, and tag your local Police Station. Be PUBLIC about your praise! - CALL INTO YOUR LOCAL RADIO: Be a friendly voice that praises Officers and what you see them doing in the community
EMAIL THE STATIONS: Send the local Police an email via Facebook or email to say “we are praying and we have your back. Thank you for all you do!!!”
IF YOU KNOW ONE, LOVE ONE: Many of us personally know Officers or their families. Do something to help ease the burden at this time: maybe slip a gift certificate to a restuarant in the community into their mailbox. Or offer to pay for their childcare for the week. Or let them know you'd be happy to grab them groceries when you are at the store next. Many of them may have extra stress at work plus families they are trying to care for. Or a spouse might be home with the kids and be in need of some support. Or perhaps you could plow the snow in their driveway, or make sure they have plenty of toilet paper :). If you know one - find a way to love on that family from a distance, of course!
WATCH OUT FOR YOUR NEIGHBORS: Take care of your neighbors and local community. Watch out for one another. As you do, reach out to the local Police Stations and let them know you are organizing and looking out for the elderly. They know all is well.
PRAY: This one is most significant. When asking a Sheriff, how can we as citizens support you as Police, his two responses were pray and stay home.
Please commit to interceding for our Police in Michigan, for their families, their leadership, their team. Pray for good health! Pray for wisdom, provision, and peace in our communities. Pray that God makes Himself known to them during this time.
